Quick word of warning before you jump in with today's Black Friday iPhone deals - demand has been pretty high on these devices for a couple of weeks now and you might see a few backorders here and there - especially at Verizon and Apple. You can still get a good deal, of course, but you might have to wait a little longer for your device to be delivered, so bear that in mind.

When will Black Friday iPhone deals start?
From our own personal experience of covering previous Black Friday iPhone deals, most carriers tend to update their store pages with offers at the beginning of Thanksgiving week. This year has followed the same pattern. Now that Black Friday is officially here, expect more iPhone deals to crop up between now and Cyber Monday.
Will there be Black Friday iPhone 13 deals?
Yes, absolutely. The real question here is how good will this year's Black Friday iPhone deals be. And, will they be better than the outstanding iPhone 13 deals we've already seen since these devices were launched.
For context, we've already seen both Verizon and AT&T give away these devices for free with a trade-in - and that's for both new and existing customers. While both of these offers are still eligible with pricey unlimited data plans, it's going to be hard for this year's Black Friday iPhone 13 deals to outdo these initial offerings, that's for sure.
We shouldn't rule out a surprise, however. It could be we see a few more freebies being thrown in to sweeten the deal (think free accessories), or maybe even a return to Verizon's 'buy-one get-one free' promotion - a deal that was commonplace last year but hasn't seen much action recently.
How much will the iPhone 12 cost on Black Friday?
The standard iPhone 12 is now $699 (was $799) thanks to the recent launch of the iPhone 13. Since Apple is traditionally unlikely to offer up any further discounts (or any price cuts at all for that matter) we're 99% sure this will be the upfront price of this handset on Black Friday.
The iPhone 12 mini is now even cheaper at $599, and, if you're really looking to save some cash, the iPhone 11 is now $499. The bad news is the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max are both discontinued now at Apple, so you'll have to go for the more recent 13 and 13 Pro if you're looking for a premium unlocked device.
Will the iPhone SE appear during Black Friday?
For most carriers, the focus will be on the iPhone 13, 12 and 11 but, there is another iPhone available that was likely to be slightly forgotten about - the iPhone SE.
Right now, a couple of carriers (Verizon and Mint Mobile_ are offering an iPhone SE for free with an eligible plan. Meanwhile, Visible includes a $100 voucher plus a free pair of headphones with an iPhone SE when you switch.
This is Apple's cheapest handset right now and for most people, will be the perfect device. It costs a lot less than the next nearest Apple device (the iPhone 11) but, won't stack up in terms of specs.
The iPhone SE in many ways is a copy of the iPhone 8 with higher specs. This means it does have an older design compared to the 11, 12 and 13 but it does use the same chipset as the iPhone 11.
In the past, the iPhone SE has seen some significant discounts thanks to Black Friday and despite its age, we'd imagine this year to be the same.
On top of that, the iPhone SE doesn't seem to be having the same stock issues we're seeing from newer iPhones, meaning you won't have to wait for it to be delivered.

Most Black Friday iPhone deals will come attached to big carrier unlimited data plans, so definitely do the math before you jump in and commit - these plans can cost you anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500 over two years.
2. Be prepared to trade in or switch
The biggest and baddest Black Friday iPhone deals will always be from the bigger carriers, but regardless of what you're looking for - trading in is the single biggest way to secure a price cut on a new iPhone. This, as well as hefty bonuses for switching carriers should be in your sights over Black Friday if you're looking for the biggest device savings possible. While mutually exclusive, bundling together these two methods often yields the biggest savings and often a free device.
3. Consider early deals
You'll often see tempting Black Friday iPhone deals dropping ahead of the big day itself which are well worth considering. While it's hard to gauge what will happen on the day, the iPhone 13 has been on backorder at Verizon recently and recent news has suggested that Apple has cut production numbers (source) due to the global chip shortages. In short, it might be a wise policy to order sooner rather than later if you're looking to get a device fairly quickly. We don't expect deals to sell out per se, but delivery wait times could be fairly lengthy this year.

The iPhone 13 Max is the current king of the Apple devices - it's the biggest, most feature-laden, and it's the one that'll make all your friends jealous. It does, however, have the same A15 Bionic chip as the other iPhone 13 models, however, so it's a good idea to downgrade slightly to the Pro model or the standard iPhone 13 if you don't think you'll be making use of that extra screen real estate or beefier cameras.
Because of this, we'd recommend the standard iPhone 13 as the device of choice for 'most' users. It's not too big, not too small, and it's priced at a much more competitive price point than the Pro models. Aesthetically it's the same as last year's iPhone 12, but a bigger battery life and storage capacity edge it out as the value pick right now.
That said, if you're strictly on a budget with your Black Friday iPhone deals hunting, then we recommend checking out the iPhone 11 and 12 mini as the budget choices. The 11 now retails for an astoundingly low $499 unlocked at Apple, and the iPhone 12 mini has been offered for free with a new unlimited plan at Verizon recently. It's a very, very powerful 5G capable device and a top pick - if you don't mind the size that is.
